Food for Thought, Papier-mache Food Sculptures by Upper Elementary
Upper Elementary students were introduced to sculptors Claes Oldenburg, Peter Anton, and Shay Aaron. Each of these artists use food as the subject of their work. After creating working drawings, the children made armatures from paper, card stock, and cardboard, and then developed their pieces with papier-mache. Their goal was to reflect both the realism and playfulness found in the food sculptures from the Pop Art movement as well as the contemporary work of Anton and Aaron.
