Currently, we are focusing on still-life drawing and
European Cubism in our Lower and Upper Elementary art classes. Students are
learning about cubist, still-life works by European artists Pablo Picasso, Juan
Gris, and Georges Braque.
Lower Elementary students will
complete the unit by creating collages inspired by Synthetic Cubism and Upper
Elementary students will design two dimensional, mixed-media artworks and three
dimensional, figurative sculptures inspired by cubist forms and perspectives.
Our five year old Primary students continue their exploration and
practice of the elements of art with a focus on actual and visual textures. The
children are creating vibrant collages using found visual textures and a
variety of collected, actual textures.
