Watercolor Impressions

In open studio, upper elementary students are making great progress on the world map mural.

In art class, lower and upper elementary students are learning and practicing a variety of watercolor painting techniques and washes as they continue to explore the European Impressionists and Expressionists. Ask them about wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry on dry watercolor painting techniques!

Lower elementary classes are creating glazing charts guided by color relationships as their final painting project while upper elementary classes are using the spiral as a guide to creating images of flowers.

The five year old primary students are focusing on the art element of shape. They are learning about geometric and organic shapes and practicing tracing and cutting out circles. They have enjoyed an introduction to the sacred geometry of the spiral and are creating three dimensional, painted, spirals as their final project.
