From the Art Room

Coils of Clay & Color

Our students played with clay at the end of the first quarter and used slab and coil clay building methods to create vessels informed by the ancient pottery discovered in Turkey and Eastern Europe during the Neolithic period. The children incised patterns into their pieces and are finishing the air dry pots with color and painted pattern.

Art classes are also exploring color as they practice creating color wheels, and mixing primary colors to make secondary colors, white with color to make tints, and black with color to make shades. Next we will explore color relationships and the emotion and symbolism of color with collage and painting projects.
