ELEMENTOS DEL ARTE Y EL MES DEL PATRIMONIO HISPANO NACIONAL

Self Portrait by Frida Kahlo
The children are expanding their exploration of the Elements of Art this week as they play with geometric vs. organic shapes and primary, secondary, warm and cool colors.

Next week, in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage month, the children will learn about Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo and Spanish painter Francisco Goya. Kahlo is known for her symbolist self-portraits and Goya for his traditional portraits. Engaged by art history, each child will be invited to create their own self-portrait, either in their own likeness as they learn about facial proportions or, as artworks about their favorite people, places and things.
